Egypt – Saudi Arabia – Jordan Itinerary

Here’s the itinerary for our air-trip at the end of the year. Our schedule is a bit light for Egypt because we’ve already visited the country. The stop in Cairo is a surprise because we have a layover to go to Saudi Arabia anyway, so we might as well take advantage of it and stay a few days in Cairo.

Egypt

Day 1

• Afternoon: Flight Athens – Cairo with Egyptair
• Arrival at Cairo International Airport. Visa on arrival: $25 USD paid in cash
• Drop off luggage at the hotel
• Shopping at Khan el-Khalili
• Visit of the old city
• Have a drink at Ritz-Carlton Nile

Day 2

• Morning:
  • Visit of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo
• Afternoon:
  • Check-in at the hotel Mena House

Day 3

• Breakfast with a view at Mena House
• Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM): Visit of the Sphinx, the pyramids & the inside of the pyramids (Khufu 900 EGP, Menkaure 280 EGP, entry ticket 700 EGP) tickets purchased in advance on the official website https://egymonuments.com/locations/tickets/Pyramids).

• Evening: sound and light show from the hotel terrace

Day 4

• Morning: Visit of the Grand Egyptian Museum

Day 5

• Morning: Visit of the Sphinx
• Afternoon: Flight to Al Madinah. e-visa already applied for online (400 SAR per person)
• Car rental at the airport
• Night near the airport

Saudi Arabia

Day 6

• Drive to Hegra (3h40)
• 2:30 pm: Hegra tour (2h)
• Airbnb check-in AlUla

Day 7

• From 10 am: Day pass at Our Habitas AlUla (350 SAR per person). Sound bath at 11 pm
• Visit Maraya Art Center
• Explore the old town of AlUla and have lunch
• VisitElephant Rock from 4 pm
• 9 pm: Sound & Light at Hegra (Hegra After Dark)
• Night in an Airbnb in AlUla

Day 8

• Drive to Medina (3h40)
• Buy traditional clothes
• Explore the Prophet’s Mosque and attend sunset prayer
• Night at Pullman Zamzam

• Visit the museum Dar Al Madinah
• Evening: Flight to Amman (Jordan)
• Night in Amman (Jordan)

Jordan

Days 10, 11, 12

• Drive to Petra (2h30)
• Visit Petra
  • First day: Treasury
  • Second day: Monastery & Royal Tombs
• Night at Mövenpick Petra (half board)

• Afternoon: Arrival in Wadi Rum
• Night at Memories Aicha Luxury Camp (half board), leave luggage in the car

• 9:30 AM: Guided tour with Wadi Rum Nomads (150 JOR per person + tips)
• 2 nights in a desert tent
