Why get insured when traveling?
It’s essential to take out health insurance when you’re embarking on long-term travel. Credit card insurance only covers you for the first 90 days of your trip, and there’s no guarantee that the French health insurance system will pay for your medical expenses abroad. The two ACS insurance options
ACS actually offers two different insurance policies:
- Globe Partner : the insurance with the best value for money. It allows you to be insured for up to 12 months of travel, provided you are under 40 years old.
- Globe Traveller : an insurance with broader coverage. It allows you to be insured for up to 12 months of travel, provided you are under 66 years old.

It should be noted, however, that Globe Traveller offers additional options: coverage for travel delays, cancellation fees, coverage for risky sports, etc.
The medical expenses cap seems a bit tight if you’re going to countries like the United States or Canada, where medical costs can be very high. Some insurance policies cover up to one million euros for those countries.
