Review: Clarisonic Mia Fit, and comparison with Mia 2

The latest version of Clarisonic, the Mia Fit, has only been released in the United States, but I managed to get my hands on it (yay). Since I also have the Mia 2, I’ll be able to give you a little comparison.

Mia Fit: What is it?

Like all Clarisonics, the Clarisonic Mia Fit is a is an electric brush that provides a better facial cleansing: 6 times cleaner than manual cleansing, all thanks to the micro-vibrations of its brush (non-rotating).

The Mia Fit is the answer to nomads/travelers/business women who want a powerful but small device, capable of slipping into a carry-on or a backpack.

That’s essentially why I bought it. I already have a Clarisonic Mia 2 that I had to leave at my sister’s during the round-the-world trip because of its size and weight. But my skin issues due to pollution in Nepal made me regret that choice. Fortunately, I got my hands on the Mia Fit.

Clarisonic Mia Fit and Mia 2: What are the differences?

Clarisonic Mia Fit: Strengths vs. Mia 2

The Mia Fit isn’t just smaller than the Mia 2; it offers unexpected features.

The USB-compatible charger (the round thing in the photo): a must for round-the-world travelers because it reduces the charger’s weight compared to the Mia 2

Two modes: 60 seconds and 80 seconds. The Mia Fit offers the 80-second mode for those who want a deep cleanse, including 20 seconds for the neck. It’s a long-requested and highly appreciated feature because the neck deserves a deep cleanse too. The Mia 2 only offers 60 seconds of cleansing regardless of the mode chosen. Indeed, the two modes on the Mia 2 correspond to two cleansing intensities.

Indicator light for the chosen mode: you can clearly see if you’ve selected mode 1 or mode 2 (80 seconds), unlike the Mia 2 where there’s no indicator light
Battery indicator light: a light gives a very clear idea of the battery status, whether it’s full (green light) or almost empty (flashing red light), unlike the Mia 2 which generally flashes when there’s very, very little battery left
The Mia Fit comes with a Radiance brush (softer) while the Mia 2 comes with a standard brush (a bit more aggressive)
The Mia Fit can stand upright; the Mia 2 can’t
Better battery life and much faster charging time

Clarisonic Mia Fit: Weaknesses vs. Mia 2

The Mia Fit is less ergonomic than the Mia 2. When cleansing your face over a sink, water runs down your arm more with the Mia Fit than with the Mia 2.
The Mia Fit is more expensive than the Mia 2 ($219 for the Mia Fit vs. $169 for the Mia 2)
The Mia 2 comes with a protective case; the Mia Fit comes without one

Clarisonic Mia Fit vs. Mia 2: What hasn’t changed

Mia 2-compatible brushes are compatible with the Mia Fit and vice versa
Both devices come with a Clarisonic-brand cleanser (I admit I don’t even test them)
The T-timer with pulsations, which announces when to switch areas: 20s for the forehead, 20s for the nose and chin, 10s for each cheek + 20s for the neck in the case of the Mia Fit
Efficiency: it’s the same technology, both machines are equally effective at deep-cleaning the skin
Contact charger: ensures the device is completely waterproof (much appreciated for use in the shower)
100-240V charger: usable anywhere in the world
You should always replace the brush head every 3 months

Conclusion

If you travel a lot, like me: go for the Clarisonic Mia Fit. It’s tiny (and so is its charger). It reduces the number of cosmetics you need because it’s super effective on milia, enlarged pores, clogged pores… In short, the problems you encounter when traveling in polluted and overly hot countries.

If you don’t travel that much:

If you already have the Clarisonic Mia 2 : I recommend sticking with your Mia 2
If you don’t have a Clarisonic yet, I recommend the Clarisonic Mia Fit which offers more features, in addition to being lightweight
