Dental Care in Rome, Italy (crowns, caries, scaling, paradontitis): How much does it cost?

Sorry to take so long to upload the travel diaries, but since September, I’ve been hanging out at the dentist’s and these appointments put me in low energy, it’s crazy. Constantly thinking about my teeth or my tooth problems, it exhausts me! I wonder if 5 continents world tour has turned into a dentists’ world tour. It’s terrible! I visited dental offices in Thailand, Morocco, Canada, Italy and Turkey. Well, what I can tell you is that French dentists are the worst, so if your wallet allows it and you can get treatment elsewhere, I highly recommend you. Why should I get treatment in Italy? That’s the question everyone asks…

October 2020 Favorites: Books to discover Asian Culture

We aren’t (yet) confined to Italy but it is surely only a matter of weeks, considering the curve of positive coronavirus cases. I have a rather long list of books to read, but I will give you the books I have already read and loved, to accompany you during the evenings of confinement. This month, we will talk about books or films that help us better understand Asian (or Eastern) culture and beliefs. The list I give you isn’t mainstream. It’s not a list of Asian bestsellers, on the contrary. Journey to the East by Nguyên Phong (link): Since I am Vietnamese, I start with a Vietnamese author, whom I…

The Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum – Rome (Italy) #7

Today, I take my courage in both hands to write this article. This is one of the last articles about Rome as we visited the Colosseum was our second visit, just after the Vatican. Well yes, because I didn’t like it. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary I visited quite a few ruins anyway, especially in Turkey but I think that the Coliseum, classified as one of the New 7 Wonders, has set the waiting bar a little too high. For information, on the New 7 Wonders of the World, we could visit 5 of them: The Chinese Wall, Christ the Redeemer in Rio,…

    Sant’Angelo Castle: Rome (Italy) #6

The Castel Sant’Angelo isn’t that far from the Vatican, but it took us an eternity to get there. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary From our Airbnb, we choose to walk to the Castel Sant’Angelo, hoping to discover a little bit of Rome. Finally, we just walk along the river banks, which look strangely similar to Paris. We have lunch at the Ristorante Porta Castello, it’s nice, affordable without being gastronomic, it’s a good choice if you want to avoid the tourist restaurants of the area. We don’t realize it, but we are really close to the Vatican. You can see St. Peter’s Basilica…

[Thoughts] #8: The Power of Giving – le Pouvoir du Don (The Power of Giving)

This post comes from an elderly Vietnamese entrepreneur, who was trained by the three best entrepreneurial “schools” in the world: American, Japanese and Israeli. He regularly shares his thoughts and entrepreneurial lessons on his Facebook page. His reflection this morning touched me a lot because he was able to put into words the information I received and believe in, without knowing how to express it clearly. So I propose you here the translation in French, so that you can also access its information. This is an important message to remember and understand. Since I am not a translator by training, there are certain passages where I will paraphrase the idea…

Digital Nomad: 2.5 months in Rome (Italy), ideal destination in spite of Covid

As you know, because of the Covid, instead of taking it easy in Asia, we had to return to France and stay there for 7 months before finally leaving on a mop, destination Italy. Why Italy? Because the destination was part of our initial itinerary: France – Germany – Austria – Italy and the more we learn about it, the more we want to be there. Rome has always been on our wishlist but as it’s “too close” to France, we thought we would have all our time and finally we went around the world twice without setting foot there. It took us more than 30 years to go there,…

Short Walk in Rome (Italy) #5: from Prati to Trastevere

We’ve been in Rome for a month and a half and I’m starting to have a little routine. I regularly go to the district of Prati, either to my masseuse or to my dentist, and to get back to our Airbnb in Trastevere, I always take the same route through the monuments of downtown Rome. I like it very much. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Already, after the appointment at the dentist’s, I always treat myself to an ice cream to reward myself for all the suffering caused by the appointment. I go either to Venchi or to the Romanaaccording to my mood…

Gallery and Villa Borghese & all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurant – Rome (Italy) #4

The Borghese Gallery is one of the places we were recommended to book in advance because of the crowds. So we buy the tickets a month and a half in advance, to find out how much the Covid has impacted Rome as well. It doesn’t matter, we are among the first to enter the villa (out of 20 tourists in all) and it suits us very well. The Gallery is nestled in a huge heart-shaped park (Villa Borghese). If the park is free, the access to the Gallery costs us 13€/person I don’t know if it’s always like this but the visiting hours are made so that each group has…
