Cardboard box as checked luggage with Air France?

When flying to settle in Tahiti, I wanted to bring the large 27″ computer monitor I had bought a few months earlier. I still had the original box, which ensured good protection. The box measured 81 x 51 x 21 cm. On the Air France website, it states that checked luggage can measure up to 158 cm (height + length + width). In my case, that’s 81 + 51 + 21 cm = 153 cm. Normally, it fits, with 5 cm to spare! Since I couldn’t find any specific mention of cardboard boxes vs. regular suitcases, I was still a bit worried, and I had no desire to find out…

How to replace a shower door seal?

If there’s one thing I regret, it’s taking months to replace a shower door seal. I thought I’d need to call a plumber, but it’s much easier than I expected—I managed to do it myself. For this, you’ll need: Then, follow the steps in this video: All in all, it took me 10 minutes. I should’ve done it sooner. You don’t need any glue—if you’ve measured the thickness of your glass correctly, the seal will just snap onto the glass like magic.

[SCAM] Binance: Beware of fake calls

There seems to be a big wave of fake Binance advisor scam attempts. I got a call today, and two of my three brothers were also contacted in recent days, so it seems massive. These two phone numbers are affected, but there are surely many others: 0568143873 , and 0187681322. Update as of November 4, 2025. Another call: 0187681632. Somehow, all or part of Binance’s customer database is out there and is being exploited by scammers. You hear every week about new “data leaks” from large companies or administrations. It’s not so much the data loss that’s critical, but the scam attempts that follow. This example with Binance is a…

Fixing the broken tip of reMarkable 2 pens (Marker and Marker Plus)

I know broken tips are quite common with reMarkable pens. If you’ve broken yours and bought it less than 3 years ago, contact the reMarkable team and they’ll replace it for free. I broke mine and tried to replace it with a 3D-printed cap I bought on Etsy (the yellow one in the photo), but it was so bulky that the pen wouldn’t attach magnetically to the tablet and kept falling off, and I ended up losing that cap too. Eventually, I managed to make a replacement tip using Fimo air-dry clay (link). Here’s how I did it: you sculpt the clay around a new tip (the black end) to…

Jadia Skin Review: False Advertising – Turmeric Cosmetics

A follower sent me a screenshot of a Jadia ad for their turmeric mask, and surprise! They illegally used my photo before/after published here even though I’ve never used their product in my life!! They obviously never asked for my opinion or consent. Using my photo to illustrate an article, why not, but using it to prove the effectiveness of their product, which I’ve never used, in an advertisement, I’m speechless!!! It says a lot about how serious this company is. Plus, my before/after photo shows progress over 6 months. Getting that result in 7 days is simply impossible because skin has a minimum 28-day cycle. The ad is false…

Internet on a Royal Caribbean cruise (price, speed, …)

(this article is a draft that will be completed later). Cruises used to be a chance to completely disconnect. That’s no longer really the case; Royal Caribbean ships are equipped with Starlink hardware, which allows you to enjoy internet with excellent speed, if you’re willing to pay the price. There are several packages, but I only have one available on my account for the moment. I’ll complete the article later. The package in question is the “VOOM SURF + STREAM Internet Package.” It’s the “Rolls-Royce” package because it gives you internet 24/7 for the entire cruise, with fast speed that allows streaming, video calls, etc. It’s offered at a rate…

    Royal Caribbean Cruise: Drink Prices

It’s always quite difficult to accurately estimate the price of a cruise, as the base fare doesn’t include gratuities, nor drinks, nor excursions. Drinks can be a significant additional budget, and it’s not always easy to find information before you’ve booked. Here’s a rundown for Royal Caribbean cruises. What you can bring on board Upon embarkation, Royal Caribbean allows you to bring beverages (only at the start, this won’t be the case at ports of call). You’re entitled to precisely (per cabin): These drinks must be in your carry-on luggage, not your checked baggage. Obviously, that might not be enough for two people for the duration of the cruise 🙂…

Rhônexpress price (Lyon-Saint-Exupéry): don’t get caught out!

Needing to get to Lyon and Paris, I mistakenly bought an Ouigo train ticket that departed from Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport and not from Lyon Part-Dieu as I had wanted. This mistake turned out to be a good deal: €73 for two people, luggage included, hard to beat! It remained to find an economical way to reach the airport. The solution is called Rhônexpress: a shuttle that every 15 minutes connects Lyon Part-Dieu station to the airport in 30 minutes. The service is reliable and fairly comfortable, it’s perfect. As I like to plan ahead, I bought our Rhônexpress tickets online: €15.20 per person. It was only on site that I…

[Pléiade Collection] How to Replace the Mylar Cover and Slipcase

I told you I bought a book from the Pléiade Collectionfor the first time. While the price was right, the book wasn’t without its flaws, and I wondered if I could improve it a bit. Because of its torn (and yellowed with age) mylar cover, the leather spine has suffered a little, and as long as the mylar stays broken, that part of the spine will always be more fragile than the rest: I need a new mylar cover. Likewise, the two Proust books (in new condition but bought second-hand) I just received are already all scratched up. I had to go to Gibert Joseph to check, and unfortunately, many…
