    Getting an ESTA despite traveling to Cuba after 2011

    About to spend a few months in French Polynesia for work, I carefully fill out my ESTA application in anticipation of my stopover in the United States (reminder: it’s essential, even for a simple transit). I felt a jolt of stress when I saw the following question: “Have you traveled to, or been present in Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen on or after March 1, 2011?” Yes, that’s exactly my case (I went in 2017), and I don’t remember seeing this question on my previous applications.     Review of our invitation to the Marriott Vacation Club presentation

    It all starts with our check-in at the Marriott Vacation Club “Grand Chateau” hotel in Las Vegas. We’re handed a voucher for a gift to pick up from the hotel concierge. Since we’re Gold members (thanks to our card American Expresswe regularly get a little treat upon arrival in our room: a snack, a handwritten welcome card, … but it’s the first time we’ve been given a mysterious voucher like this.     Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks – Road trip in the American West #10

    Our hotel is 30 minutes from Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, and after a good night’s sleep, we’re ready to brave the cold and wind to explore. Visiting Sequoia National Park means taking a big detour before heading to Yosemite, but we have plenty of time, so we might as well take advantage.
