Days 6 & 7 in New York (USA): High Line, Elevated Acre, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty…

Day 6 : Today, we still get up late – because of the heat and fatigue accumulated over the last few days (cf. days 1&2, day 3, days 4 & 5). We start the day by buying one of the best Vietnamese sandwiches in New York at Sau Voi. Even the baguette is crispy, and it’s cheap (if I remember correctly 6$). It’s also the place where I can find my favorite Vietnamese snack: nem chua. They sell a lot of other Vietnamese specialties. Very good address in China Town. With our sandwiches, we head to the Financial District in search ofElevated Acre, a haven of peace between two skyscrapers,…

Days 4 & 5 in New York (USA): locations for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Gossip Girl, Sex in the City…

That’s it, after only a few days (cf. days 1&2, day 3), I got a little sick because of the air conditioning. Everything we did in two days below can be grouped in one day (for healthy tourists). The first time we set foot in NYC in 2015, every 10 minutes, we said “ohhh it’s like in the movies”. From the yellow cab to the skyscrapers, the subway, the places, the people… it’s so familiar but strange at the same time. It’s like going to a place you’ve always known – without having been there. My vision of New York has been long influenced by watching very girly series like…

Day 3 in New York (USA): One World Observatory, Memorial 9/11 and Brooklyn

To reread the 1st part of our trip to NYC, it’s this way Today we went to One World Observatory, the observatory of the One World Trade Center skyscraper, built next to the former Twin Towers and inaugurated in 2014. I realize, by looking at the pictures that this tower is “camouflaged” but in reality we can see it very well and not confuse it for the sky 😀 Right next to it is a shopping center (with the white fish-bone shaped tips) called the World Trade Center. The two Twin Towers locations became two giant fountains/ditches: “north pool” and “south pool”, where the names of all the victims are…

Days 1 & 2 in New York City (USA): Times Square, Katz’s Delicatessen, NYC Library, Shopping

Our stay in the United States continues with a week’s vacation in New York City. A real vacation, without working, to fully enjoy this beautiful city of a thousand facets. We have to take a bus(Flixbus) between Washington DC and NYC, but the bus is 45 minutes late. Add to that the traffic in NYC and we arrived 2 hours late compared to the scheduled time. Fortunately our Airbnb hostess was able to wait for us during all this time there. Our room looks like a large closet. We share the bathroom with the owner. Everything has its place because it’s so small. I think the whole apartment (including the…
