Van rental in Iceland in summer at Kuku Campers: Return of Experience

We are fortunate to have feedback (and photos) from Marie (thank you very much!), who has just spent 2 weeks in Iceland in August 2019. Discover her Instagram here for pictures of Iceland (and elsewhere because she travels a lot too). I take this opportunity to share her experience with you. Kuku Campers Marie opted for a Kuku campers, booked months in advance on their official website (before the bankruptcy of Wow air) for 1800€, 13 days (insurances included, 2nd authorized driver). Pssst, here we have explained why you should choose an insurance policy As she was approaching her trip, she realized that fares were falling on their website, and…

What clothes and equipment for a Road trip in Iceland in Winter ?

Today I will list all the things we took with us on our trip to Iceland in April 2019. This post is NOT sponsored Weather in Iceland in April I remind the weather conditions for those who do not know this country yet: in April, it is between 1°C and 8°C and we are often confronted with snow (rarer), rain (often) and wind (up to 50km/h). Being rather well equipped thanks to the varied temperatures during our world tour, we still had to buy some extra gear to face the rain, humidity and Icelandic wind. Why not buy on the spot? You will see, on the spot, the prices will…

[Road trip in Iceland] Days 14 & 15: Laugarvatn Fontana Spa, Secret Lagoon, Lobster Soup, Ikea

We arrive at the end of our stay in Iceland. Mine of nothing, it tires to visit in such an intense way since 2 weeks. We aren’t used to speed travel anymore 🙂 Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Stop 1: Laugarvatn Fontana Several people have told me about this spa, as a must-see stop next to the Cercle d’Or. When I inquired, I actually understood why: many hot pots of varying temperatures, but especially a hammam just above a hot spring. Yes, the steam comes directly from this source. And you can cool down directly in the lake right afterwards. JB talked about it…

[Road trip in Iceland] Day 13: Reykjavík in the rain

Itinerary Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Today we visit the Icelandic capital, Reykjavík. We visit it at the end of our trip in Iceland because it isn’t one of our priorities. I know that those who come here for 3 days to attend a concert or just for the Northern Lights, appreciate it very much. Today, we are as “lucky” as yesterday, rain + wind combo, but with an even stronger wind, between 45km and 50km/h. The Icelandic weather forecast has even issued an alert for this wind. Stop 1: Perlan Well, when you can’t set foot outside, at the risk of being carried…

[Road trip in Iceland] Day 12: Snæfellsjökull, Arnastapi, Krauma

Itinerary To consult our personalized Google maps (a little less detailed than usual for day 12 because there are too many stops), click here Today, we experience for the first time the wind & rain combo so characteristic to Iceland. With a few rare clearings from time to time. Before, we had either sunshine or grey sky, but no rain yet. With such conditions and as we are at the end of our stay, the visits are less cool and we are too lazy, would be only to get out of the car Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Stop 1: Skarðsvík Beach It is…

Test & Reviews: Relax at Spa Laugarvatn Fontana (Iceland)

It is already our last day of visits in Iceland, I take advantage of it to experiment an ultimate spa, the Laugarvatn Fontana. Anh isn’t feeling very well and prefers to stay for a hot chocolate in the spa restaurant (a buffet is offered at the rate of 2900 ISK for lunch and 3900 ISK for dinner). The price of the entrance ticket is 3800 ISK (free for children up to 12 years old and 2000 ISK between 13 and 16 years old), it is expensive but these are the Icelandic prices and it is much cheaper than the blue lagoon. I strongly advise you to come with towel and…

[Road trip in Iceland] Day 11: North-West of Iceland

Today, we have to drive a lot, to get closer to the Snaefellsjökull peninsula. As we are a bit ahead of schedule, we allow ourselves to explore a tiny part of North-West Iceland – where tourists usually do not venture, especially in winter as there are many closed roads. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Itinerary Stop 1: Hot Pots Ranges Having spent the night in Drangsnes itself: Sunna’s Guesthouse(link Booking), we can enjoy the hot baths (available free of charge) near the ocean quietly in the morning. Our guesthouse lent us 2 bathrobes and told us to shower before going there, put on the…

[Road trip in Iceland] Day 10: Hofsos, Grafarkirkja, Hvitserkur

Hofsos was one of the most prosperous trading posts in the region, thanks to the herring trade. Today, the town is super quiet, but still attracts travelers thanks to its most beautiful municipal swimming pool in Iceland. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Itinerary To access our personalized google Maps, click here Stop 1 : Hofsos swimming pool It’s a pool, so it’s not the same price as the spas (if you count the spas, the GeoSea spa pool is the truly most beautiful in Iceland – in my opinion), only 1000kr per person. The pool is a bit cooler than the hot pot (hot…
