[My Opinion] Dahabiya cruise with the Nile Rigs – El Khedewi – Egypt
We have just spent 12 wonderful days in Egypt (November 2018), including 5 nights 6 days cruising on the Nile with the company Les Gréements du Nil Here is my opinion about my cruise with Les Gréements du Nil. This post is NOT sponsored We opted for a dahabiya (the company has other types of boats: sandal, felucca). And we were able to travel on the mythical El Khedewi (built in 1897), which has only 3 cabins (2 doubles, 1 single for the guide), that is to say 4 clients on the boat, 1 guide and 7 crew members. The ultimate luxury! This is what our boat looks like: Our…

Day 8 in Egypt: Temple of Philae & Sound and Light in Abu Simbel
Today we have to leave the boat and at 7 am, Barakah, a sailor, comes knocking at the door to wake us up. All the suitcases are put in the living room. We have a quiet breakfast. The atmosphere is a little calmer because we are all sad that it is already finished. Reminder: if you haven’t done so yet, please read our previous travel diaries in Egypt first: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7 Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary The boat moors a few kilometers from Aswan. The crew helps us to load the suitcases in a mini-bus and here…

Day 7 in Egypt: Temple of Kom Ombo, camel market in Daraw
Today is an important day because it is our last night on the boat. Vacations always go by too fast! Like yesterday, the visits are concentrated in the morning Reminder: if you haven’t done so yet, please read our previous travel diaries in Egypt first: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 We pass by boat in front of the temple of Kom Ombo but there are too many cruise ships (and too many people on the site), our dahabiya moors a little further On this part of the Nile, there are many sandbanks. To make navigation easier, two teams are working hard to remove the sand We take a…
