Our Photo & Video Material for the World Tour

Still hesitating between going with a camera and taking a simple smartphone? Here is our opinion and our photo & video equipment. During our first world tour, photo & video was clearly not our strong point as we only left with two has-been smartphones and a 1st generation GoPro. The pictures were pretty much OK but the colors were really disappointing. During the 2nd round-the-world tour, we realized how important it is to have quality visuals, which are able to show things as they are (realistic colors, some depth for the pictures). We don’t have a crazy budget and being still amateurs in photo/video editing & retouching, we don’t want…

Review on the Société Générale Kapsul card: unusable for travelers

Société Générale announces with great fanfare the launch of a new map: the Kapsul map. Traditional banks must begin to panic as they see their customers gradually leaving for neo-banks with much lower rates and much more efficient services. Among the advantages of this new card: the absence of exchange fees when used outside the euro zone. That’s what appealed to me! For the travelers that we are, let’s see if the Kapsul map is relevant knowing that we will have to fight with : The foreign N26 and Revolut cards that we have been using for years The Boursorama Ultim card (which is a subsidiary of Société Générale!) The…

Review of 2019 – after 3.5 years around the world

The year 2019 marks the third year of our world tour and the second year of our life as digital nomads. This year, we set foot in many new countries (Portugal, Iceland, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala), in addition to the countries already visited (Morocco, France, United States). I have marked “set foot” because there are two countries where we stayed only a few hours (Honduras, Bahamas). After comfort and ease in Asia and Europe, we wanted to test digital nomadism in America : North, Central and South America. TOP 12 for the year 2019 See wild dolphins (in Florida and Mexico) We bathed in…

    Dangerous airlines: black list 2020

When traveling by air, one generally tries to find the cheapest flights possible. We’ve given you some tips on how to pay less by booking a round-trip instead of a one-way ticket or by paying in local currency. If you find a cheap ticket from an airline you have never heard of, take a few moments to check that it isn’t on the European Union’s airline blacklist. More than a hundred airlines are simply banned from flying over European Union countries because they do not meet international safety standards. If your airline is listed, it may be safer to choose another option. This black list is updated every six months…

Itinerary 19 days in Vietnam – North to Center: Ha Noi, Ha Long, Ha Giang, Phong Nha, Hue, Hoi An

Here is the program we have planned for the trip of a friend, who came to Vietnam for the first time. We chose to replace Sa Pa with Ha Giang, for a more authentic and wow experience. As Ha Long Bay is one of the priorities of his visit to Vietnam, we have chosen to incorporate a 3 day 2 night boat tour, allowing us to visit both Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, which is also less known and less frequented. Ha Noi being my hometown, I chose to come back to Ha Noi between 2 big excursions. It is the ideal place to recharge your batteries, because…

Convivio: a co-working in Oaxaca (Mexico) with a Wi-Fi at the top!

After almost 6 months of traveling across America (outside Canada and the USA) and juggling between Wifi, mobile connections and other phone solutions, the logistics of the job are starting to weigh me down. As you know (or not), we prefer to work in our home. That’s why we carefully choose our Airbnb to have an acceptable working space and try to get information about the speed of the internet connection. We were quite confident when we arrived in our accommodation in Oaxaca because the owner had been able to answer us: 30 Mb / s which is much better than what we are used to. Weary, we discover an…

How to receive free SMS messages abroad? Telephone, Calls and Internet

This is a recurring question for people preparing a long trip abroad: how to continue to receive SMS? For people leaving for long months, the only need is often to be able to receive SMS messages from the bank to confirm a payment on the internet. If this is your only need, be aware that some banks such as N26 or Revolut do not work with SMS, the confirmation of the payment is done with the mobile application which is still much more convenient. Receiving SMS is free of charge anywhere in the world Not everyone necessarily knows it, but receiving SMS is free anywhere in the world.Wherever you are,…

Wifi Analyser: Android application to measure the strength of the Wifi signal

When you arrive in a hotel room or an Airbnb accommodation, you don’t necessarily know where the Wifi terminal is located Even if you know where it is, the quality of the Wifi signal can be greatly reduced because of the thickness of the walls. It is therefore interesting to try toidentify the place where the signal is the best. Depending on this location, you will be able to place your computer or your wifi pocket that acts as a repeater in the optimal place. I particularly had this need in Guatemala where the walls of the house were particularly thick. I then discovered the free Android application Wifi Analyser,…
