Testing and Reviews of the Ultimate Ears ROLL 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker System

After a year of world tour during which every object and every gram in our bags was meticulously studied, we became nomads. If our new life as nomadic workers always requires us to be as minimalist as possible, we now allow ourselves a few extras. Indeed, the weight of our bags is less critical when we move “only” every month rather than moving every 2 or 3 days.We have therefore allowed ourselves the acquisition of a bluetooth speaker. We like to work with music, watch movies or listen to podcasts and the sound quality of a laptop is particularly poor.Ideally I would have liked to have the famous Bose speaker (Bose Soundlink Mini) whose sound quality is amazing considering the size of the device. However I find its weight a little high (680 grams) and seems quite fragile. Since our speaker will be regularly lugged in the holds of planes, buses and other things, we need something solid. It’s while passing by Fnac that I came across the Ultimate Ears ROLL 2 bluetooth speaker by chance.

The “+” isn’t a cross, it’s to increase the volume ^^
This one seduced me by its characteristics:- Very satisfying power and sound quality- A very light weight (330 grams)- Reduced dimensions- A very nice style- An elastic band that allows you to hang it everywhere- Very solid- A very important autonomy (20h announced)- Waterproof!- A modest price (69 € on Amazon)So we chose this speaker and plugged it in with our two computers and our two smartphones. It even comes with an inflatable float for use in the pool, a gadget we got rid of.We have been using it intensively for more than 6 months.- As soon as I wake up, I like to listen to a podcast or a Youtube show while preparing breakfast- She then accompanies me in the shower (long live the waterproof and the very practical elastic)- During our working day, she plays our Spotify playlists- In the evening, it is usually Youtube or Netflix that makes her work
Let’s sing in the shower!
Having rented a car for a few days in Andalusia, she had the chance to travel with us.
By car Simone!
With this intensive use, we recharge it only once or twice a week (by pressing the “Plus” and “Minus” at the same time, it tells us the battery status).A mobile application offers some additional features that we don’t use:- A sound equalizer- Programming an alarm clock- If you have two speakers: set them to stereo modeTwo defects that we find in him:

  1. there is no notion of prioritization between connected devices. If my computer plays music on the speaker and Anh starts a video from her phone, she might take control of the speaker. So we must regularly activate / deactivate the bluetooth of the warring devices. Since this is our first bluetooth speaker, I don’t know if the others manage this aspect better.
  2. we can’t change the songs from the speaker, just increase or decrease the volume

Apart from these defects, we are in love with this speaker and recommend it to you :-)Did you like this article? Discover other computer tools (and gadgets) essential to digital nomads.https://www.nomadbento.com/9665.htm
