August 2020 Favorites
We went on a tour of France by car in August, so my favorites will be more about what we visited during our vacation.
- The caves : I really liked the replicas of caves, like Chauvet 2 and Lascaux IV. I had a big crush on the Villars cave.

- Rivers: I don’t really like to swim at the beach because of the sand and salt water, that’s why I really enjoyed spending time in the Gorges de l’Ardèche and in the Dordogne, where you can swim in fresh water and find places without sand. The Périgord has left a great impression on me, and I would love to spend my retirement there. I can see myself coming back there for 1 or 2 months to explore everything next year if the Covid still prevents us from going to Asia.

- Thefood: between the 100% truffle restaurant in Carcassonne, the 1* Michelin restaurant, the producer’s foie gras and several tastings of champagne and cognac, we had a great time this summer
- The accommodations: I have three huge favorites: a guest house with a view in the Ardèche gorges, a “museum” style guest house in Nontron and the tree house in Mayenne. The breakfasts served there are impressive: the first one is served on 100% Hermès crockery, the second one contains only the products of the farm

- Audible I spent a lot of time in the car and I took advantage of it to listen to the novels. I can’t read in the car because I get carsick. Moreover, there are books that I can’t read at all because it’s too expensive, like the novel “North & South”, impossible to read without falling asleep, but completely digestible in audio (28 hours of reading anyway). I really like to listen to novels when I’m busy with my hands, to make paper flowers for example. Audible offers 1 free audio book, or 2 if you have Amazon Prime. And by doing everything in a bunch of complicated maneuvers, I was able to get 5 books for only 14,9€, but I’ll explain it all in this article
- Shopping : shopping level, I didn’t buy anything as souvenirs during our stay (except food), but still cosmetics 😀 The fact of wearing the barrier masks permanently, the heat wave… made my skin fragile and I was able to repair it thanks to NIOD, a brand that I just discovered. CAIS 2 repairs wounds and weakened skin very well. I bought a lot of cosmetics at The Ordinary to do reviews, but I think I will calm down soon enough because we almost had to pay extra for the luggage in the hold (oops)

Apart from that, we made some unforgettable encounters: B&B owners, passionate and exciting guides, farmers who love their job… we were able to see our friends too. It was an absolutely incredible summer.
