How to read Kobo books on reMarkable 2 and reMarkable Paper Pro

Here’s how to remove DRM protection from an ebook purchased via Fnac/Kobo and convert it to a format compatible with your reMarkable.

1. Download the ebook
Go to your account page Fnac https://secure.fnac.com/account/ebooks, then click on “Download the ebook”. This will give you a .acsm file.

2. Open the file with Adobe Digital Editions
Install for free Adobe Digital Editions (if not already done) and open the .acsm file with this software. Adobe Digital Editions may ask for your Fnac credentials.

Make sure the book opens correctly in Adobe Digital Editions on your computer before proceeding.

3. Download PDFMate eBook Converter
Download and install the software for free PDF Mate Ebook Converter

3. Convert the book
Launch PDF Mate Ebook Converter.
Click on the squares then “Adobe” to see your book appear.

If the book doesn’t appear, set the correct source folder:

By default, ebooks are stored in:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Digital Editions

Double-click on the book title to remove DRM protection.
Choose the conversion format
Select EPUB or PDF depending on your preference.

Tip: The EPUB format is recommended because it allows you to adjust font size and spacing directly on the reMarkable. PDF is more rigid.

4. Retrieve your file
Once the conversion is complete, click on the gear icon at the top right of PDFMate, then on “Output” to find the output folder where your converted file is stored.

5. Transfer to reMarkable
Open the reMarkable software for PC.
All you have to do is drag and drop your EPUB or PDF file into the app, and you’re done!
