Bukti: a lovely village for digital nomads in Bali (Indonesia)

Accommodation in Bali has become so expensive that it’s better to avoid tourist spots. As we got closer to Lovina (to see the dolphins), we discovered a small village, Bukti, 30 minutes from Lovina and 20 minutes from a shopping town. There are 2 restaurants with local prices (that’s a relief).

Here, the dogs are docile; no dog attacks us when we ride our scooter as can happen in Ubud. You can tell the road is mainly used by trucks, not tourists. On the scooter, we’re alone in the world.

And at our hotel too. There are rarely other tourists. We opt for a private villa within a family-run hotel, surrounded by trees so no one can disturb us. The bathroom and shower are also outdoors, in the shade of the trees. We only have to walk 10 meters to swim in the ocean.

The sand is black and there isn’t much of a beach, which is why we prefer to cool off in the thermal water pool next door. The Indonesians are very surprised to see us. And they swim fully clothed, so we do too 😀

We highly recommend it to digital nomads who need a quiet place, a good internet connection, while being close to nature and paying local prices.
