2020 Ticket Prices for Temples & Museums in Egypt

Heads up: entrance fees have skyrocketed recently (November 2018) because the Egyptian pound has dropped and the government decided old prices were too low once converted to euros/dollars.

So don’t trust the rates you see in the Rough Guide, Lonely Planet, or elsewhere—they’re outdated.

My prices are from November 2018 (the latest). Unfortunately, I only have rates for the monuments/temples I’ve visited.

I don’t have prices for places I haven’t been to, so it’s a bit limited, sorry. You’ll also find photos of the ticket prices at the bottom of the post.

There are additional tickets/fees to pay – The basic entry to most sites usually doesn’t cover the most famous/exceptional things, like the solar boats at the pyramids, Seti I’s tomb, or the mummy rooms at the Egyptian Museum… For those, you have:

  • either combo tickets: they call them “passes.” Ask before you visit; for example, the Egyptian Museum and the pyramids have these.
  • or extra tickets: for example, the tombs of Tutankhamun (I don’t recommend), Ramses VI (I do recommend, plus it’s cheap at 5€), Seti I (oh yes! 50€ for a marvel!), Nefertari (yes yes yes! It’s the best tomb in all of Egypt, 60€).

These extra tickets must be bought at the entrance; you can’t decide later and buy the access ticket in front of, say, Seti I’s tomb.

Have a great trip!
