Monte Alban, Alebrijes de madera, Cuilapam de Guerrero, Barro negro de Coyotepec – Surroundings of Oaxaca #2 (Mexico)

    February 3, 2020 /

We continue exploring the surroundings of Oaxaca today with a guided tour. On the program: the archaeological ruins of Monte Alban, the famous colored wooden sculptures (Alebrijes de madera), an old convent and the black pottery of Coyotepec. We will take you with us, as usual. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary This itinerary is one of the 2 most popular routes to explore the surroundings of Oaxaca. The 1st itinerary (towards Hierve el Agua and all the villages on the road) was done via bus and colectivo and we enjoyed our 3 days on the road too much. This time, as transportation is…

Hierve el Agua, Dyeing courses in Teotitlan, Tlacolula Market & l’Arbre del Tule – Surroundings of Oaxaca #1 (Mexico)

    February 1, 2020 /

There are 2 popular towers in the surroundings of Oaxaca: on the Hierve el Agua side and on the Monte Alban side. But for the tour Hierve el Agua + Teotitlan + Tule, we decide to go there by ourselves by bus & colectivo to be able to spend more time at each stop. The agencies cover almost the same route (except the Tlacolula market) in a single day. But we will take 2.5 days hiihihi. For practical advices, prices & bus departure places, please go to the Practical Advice section at the bottom of the article Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Just…

Our Photo & Video Material for the World Tour

    January 30, 2020 /

Still hesitating between going with a camera and taking a simple smartphone? Here is our opinion and our photo & video equipment. During our first world tour, photo & video was clearly not our strong point as we only left with two has-been smartphones and a 1st generation GoPro. The pictures were pretty much OK but the colors were really disappointing. During the 2nd round-the-world tour, we realized how important it is to have quality visuals, which are able to show things as they are (realistic colors, some depth for the pictures). We don’t have a crazy budget and being still amateurs in photo/video editing & retouching, we don’t want…

Review of 2019 – after 3.5 years around the world

    January 20, 2020 /

The year 2019 marks the third year of our world tour and the second year of our life as digital nomads. This year, we set foot in many new countries (Portugal, Iceland, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala), in addition to the countries already visited (Morocco, France, United States). I have marked “set foot” because there are two countries where we stayed only a few hours (Honduras, Bahamas). After comfort and ease in Asia and Europe, we wanted to test digital nomadism in America : North, Central and South America. TOP 12 for the year 2019 See wild dolphins (in Florida and Mexico) We bathed in…

Itinerary 19 days in Vietnam – North to Center: Ha Noi, Ha Long, Ha Giang, Phong Nha, Hue, Hoi An

    January 17, 2020 /

Here is the program we have planned for the trip of a friend, who came to Vietnam for the first time. We chose to replace Sa Pa with Ha Giang, for a more authentic and wow experience. As Ha Long Bay is one of the priorities of his visit to Vietnam, we have chosen to incorporate a 3 day 2 night boat tour, allowing us to visit both Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, which is also less known and less frequented. Ha Noi being my hometown, I chose to come back to Ha Noi between 2 big excursions. It is the ideal place to recharge your batteries, because…

[Travel Guide 2020] 15 days of Roadtrip by Bus in Yucatán (Mexico): Itinerary, Budget, Transportation, Practical Advice

    January 12, 2020 /

Here is the recommended itinerary for a 2 week road trip in Mexico. At the beginning, we wanted to rent a car but the destinations we are targeting are very well served by buses and colectivos, so we preferred to use them to travel in a more economical way. This itinerary is part of our +2 month stay in Central America. To optimize the cost, we land in Merida (instead of Cancun, the classic arrival city from France) from San Salvador (El Salvador), then we will have our luggage kept in a hotel for 2 weeks (hence one night in Merida, to justify leaving our luggage in the l uggage…

Itinerary 17 days in Mexico by Bus or Colectivo – Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Chiapas: Detailed Budget, Transportation and Advice

    January 12, 2020 /

If you are preparing your vacation in Mexico, like me, and if you are stuck on the itinerary, here is mine. You can use it as inspiration for the holidays, or for other periods. The difficulty is to choose the best sites of interest because they are all incredible. Abstract This itinerary corresponds to 17 days on site This itinerary is for those who prefer the cenotes & lagoons rather than the beach. Here, every time we go to the beach, it is more for snorkeling. If you want to laze on the beach, check out our 15-16 dayprogram in Mexico This program is an improved version of what we…

Road trip in Mexico #8: Campeche, Ruins of Uxmal & Merida

    January 12, 2020 /

After Palenque, we must visit the ruins of Uxmal and finish the roadtrip in beauty in a luxury hotel, vintage style. But I hesitated a lot between a direct trip from Palenque to Merida (8:30 am) and then visit Uxmal the next day, or take a short break in Campeche. Finally, to spend less time in transportation, I decided to cut the path in two and spend a night in Campeche. Note: this article is part of the 17-day roadtrip series in Mexico. Go to previous articles: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7 Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part…

Schedules of the second class bus from Uxmal to Campeche (Mexico)

    January 12, 2020 /

Few people know it, but there is a second class bus from Uxmal to Campeche with regular schedules. This allows you to get to Uxmal, continue on your way to Campeche, instead of going back to Merida and taking another bus to Campeche. You can leave your luggage in the trunk but you have to open it and collect your luggage yourself (but tell the driver that you are going to open it anyway, otherwise he might leave). Just wave and say “maleta”, he will understand. This bus is a second class bus and stops at all the small villages on the way. Duration: 3h to 3h30 (it depends on…

Schedules of the second class bus from Campeche to Uxmal (Mexico)

    January 12, 2020 /

For those who are looking for the same information as me, without having found it. I can tell you that after having been there, there are indeed buses leaving from the 2nd class Terminal (Terminal del SUR) in Campeche to Uxmal. This way, you will be able to visit Uxmal before continuing the journey to Merida You can leave your luggage in the trunk but you have to open it and collect your luggage yourself (signal to the driver anyway that you are going to open it, otherwise he might leave). Just wave and say “maleta”, he will understand. This bus is a second class bus and stops at all…
