3 Days in Florence (Italy): Duomo, Botticelli, the David, Uffizi Museum & Panoramic View

The trip from Venice to Rome takes so much time (by train) that we decide to cut the trip in two: Venice – Florence and then Florence – Rome. What a good decision because we were able to visit this nice city just before it was classified as a “red zone” (another way to confine a city without saying so explicitly). Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Our hotel Our hotel (B&B La residenza dell’Orafo, Booking link ) is just a few minutes walk from the train station, a few minutes from the central market and 15 minutes from the main tourist attractions. I…

In the previous episode, I took you to see the must-see places in Venice. In this article, we continue to explore the equally beautiful, but less visited places. Beware, some of them are very famous too, but wouldn’t have been put in the must-see list of travelers who only spend 2 days there. Program of the 3rd and 4th days in Venice: Very nice but not essential Venice Arsenal: Shipyard playing a decisive role in the construction of the Venetian Empire by allowing the rapid production of many ships. 2 days in Venice (Italy): Must-see Visits

We just spent 2 weeks in Venice. Of course, we are working at the same time, so in real life, we really only spent 5 days visiting a maximum of things in the city, including 2 full days for its must-sees. According to me, here are the musts of Venice to do in two days: Saint Mark’s Square: a huge tourist square saint Mark’s Basilica: golden mosaic everywhere the Doge’s Palace: sumptuous rooms, decorated from floor to ceiling Bridge of Sighs: connects the old prisons to the interrogation cells of the Doge’s Palace, you can walk on it while visiting the Doge’s Palace but otherwise you can see it from…

Venice (Italy): 2 weeks as Digital Nomads

After a month and a half in Rome, we decide to spend two weeks in Venice to enjoy the good weather before the arrival of winter. This is a first for us! We visited a lot of fake Venice, small Venice, green Venice…. but for the REAL Venice, we waited until 2020 to go there. We arrived in Venice by train. The train crosses a kind of narrow path, surrounded by water. It looks like we are going to the Keys. The water does not seem so deep because I saw people with their feet in the water and it only reaches their knees. We see a lot of fishermen…

1 day in Vicenza (Italy): 45mn from Venice

A few days before our arrival in Venice, I discover thanks to the paper flower designers that I am on Instagram, that Cartotecnica Rossi, an Italian company, world leader in crepe paper , will be present at the creative fair in Vincenza (Vicenza). They have also invited some Italian designers that I am a fan of. Neither one nor two, I look up where Vicenza is on Google Maps and discover that the city is only 45 minutes from Venice. So I decide to make the round trip during the day from Venice. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Vicenza is on the Venice…

The Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum – Rome (Italy) #7

Today, I take my courage in both hands to write this article. This is one of the last articles about Rome as we visited the Colosseum was our second visit, just after the Vatican. Well yes, because I didn’t like it. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary I visited quite a few ruins anyway, especially in Turkey but I think that the Coliseum, classified as one of the New 7 Wonders, has set the waiting bar a little too high. For information, on the New 7 Wonders of the World, we could visit 5 of them: The Chinese Wall, Christ the Redeemer in Rio,…

    Sant’Angelo Castle: Rome (Italy) #6

The Castel Sant’Angelo isn’t that far from the Vatican, but it took us an eternity to get there. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary From our Airbnb, we choose to walk to the Castel Sant’Angelo, hoping to discover a little bit of Rome. Finally, we just walk along the river banks, which look strangely similar to Paris. We have lunch at the Ristorante Porta Castello, it’s nice, affordable without being gastronomic, it’s a good choice if you want to avoid the tourist restaurants of the area. We don’t realize it, but we are really close to the Vatican. You can see St. Peter’s Basilica…

Short Walk in Rome (Italy) #5: from Prati to Trastevere

We’ve been in Rome for a month and a half and I’m starting to have a little routine. I regularly go to the district of Prati, either to my masseuse or to my dentist, and to get back to our Airbnb in Trastevere, I always take the same route through the monuments of downtown Rome. I like it very much. Part 1: Travel Diary Part 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Already, after the appointment at the dentist’s, I always treat myself to an ice cream to reward myself for all the suffering caused by the appointment. I go either to Venchi or to the Romanaaccording to my mood…

Gallery and Villa Borghese & all-you-can-eat Sushi restaurant – Rome (Italy) #4

The Borghese Gallery is one of the places we were recommended to book in advance because of the crowds. So we buy the tickets a month and a half in advance, to find out how much the Covid has impacted Rome as well. It doesn’t matter, we are among the first to enter the villa (out of 20 tourists in all) and it suits us very well. The Gallery is nestled in a huge heart-shaped park (Villa Borghese). If the park is free, the access to the Gallery costs us 13€/person I don’t know if it’s always like this but the visiting hours are made so that each group has…
