[road trip] A day at Mont-Tremblant National Park (Canada)

After 2 days in the Eastern Townships, we continue on our way to spend the 3rd day of the extended weekend at Mont-Tremblant National Park. This park is so large that despite its proximity to Montreal (1h30 drive), we can easily camp there and spend several days. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary We still have the car rented at Avis (link, 40$CA/day), the weather is splendid and there are fortunately not too many people on the road because it’s Sunday. We arrive at the town of Mont-Tremblant, on the shores of Lake Mont-Tremblant. It’s a ski resort so it has faux-airs of Chamonix, with…

[road trip] Two days in the Eastern Townships (Canada): Foresta Lumina, Mont-Orford, Saint-Benoît du Lac, North Hatley

This weekend, we are again renting a car from Avis (link, 40$CA per day) to visit the surroundings of Montreal, namely the Eastern Townships, which are very close to the border with the United States. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Day 1 Wave to Guy This wave isn’t in the Eastern Townships but since it is on the way, we take advantage of having the car to get there. On Google maps, the road that passes in front of it is a Boulevard, but in reality, it is a nice little road and we can park there without any problem (during the week anyway).…

[Test & Review] I tried the “Cupping Facial” facial treatment by Tata Harper in Montreal (Canada)

Today, we’re meeting up – again – for another facial in Montreal, still at etiket. This time, it’s the famous “cupping facial” by Tata Harper. Context This article is NOT sponsored (even though I wish they’d paid me to get free facials). I got the famous Hydrafacial, which is very well known in North America (read my review here) at etiket in Montreal, and I had a long chat with my esthetician. I told her about my interest in Tata Harper spa facials (I’ve seen their videos on Instagram here – it’s not quite the same treatment but you get the idea). She told me that she used to work…

A day in Montreal (Canada): Notre-Dame Basilica, Underground City, Chinatown…

Today, I will take you on a tour of Montreal. We’ve taken time to explore each neighbourhood, but I’m putting them all together in one article, so if you’re short on time, you can explore them all in one long day. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Our airbnb For a month, we were in an Airbnb filled with green plants, next to the Lionel-Groulx metro station (orange line). The location isn’t super central, but we are only 20 minutes from downtown by subway. The neighborhood is quiet, full of restaurants. The only constraint is the mezzanine (where the bed is) and the staircase leading…

I attended the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix – Montreal Travel Diary

Upon arriving in Montreal, I learned that the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix would take place during our stay. Even though I’m not a motorsports fan at all, you’re beginning to know that I enjoy attending sporting events in the places I travel to. So I figured this was the perfect opportunity to attend a F1 Grand Prix. Before that, I watched the Netflix Formula 1: Drive to Survive series that just came out. It’s very well done and allows a beginner like me to understand this discipline a little better. How is the Canadian Grand Prix? Like all F1 Grand Prix events, the Canadian Grand Prix takes place over…

3 days road trip between Montreal & the Saguenay Fjord

Hello, it is with much delay that I tell you about our extended weekend to the Saguenay Fjord in mid-May. Part 1: Travel Diary Part2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Diary Before coming to Montreal, we received an email from Airbnb reporting flooding towards the North-East of the city. Our airbnb isn’t concerned fortunately, but it is by taking the car that we could see the extent of the phenomenon. The water arrives almost up to the level of the highway and thousands of houses and trees have their feet in the water. Speaking of the car, we rented one from Avis. Now that JB has an AmericanExpress card, we…

Compressed air shooting session in Montreal (Canada)

After a live-fire shooting session in Prague, it is almost a peaceful activity that we are doing today in Montreal. While hanging out on the Groupon site we find an interesting offer: for 49 CAD (to which we’ll have to add a few dollars in taxes) we are entitled to a one hour session for two people with unlimited ammunition at Tir du soleil which is barely a few subway stations away from our apartment. We bought the package on Groupon and we had to reserve a time slot on the Tir du soleil website. Arrived on the spot, the person who welcomes us gives us targets of various sizes,…

[Review] I Tried the HydraFacial MD® Signature – Before/After Photos

Very well known in North America, the HydraFacial treatment has been considered the most spectacular, non-invasive treatment for over a decade, THE solution for gorgeous skin. Naturally, I tried it out for you, in Montreal. This post is not NOT sponsored It’s always while looking for niche products that I stumble upon interesting beauty salons. Last time, it was in Chamonix, this time, it’s in Montreal. I went to etiket to sniff the fragrance-free perfume Molecule 01 (which I told you about here), before asking them about their facials. 5 minutes later, I’m leaving with an appointment for a HydraFacial MD® Signature. I’ve always wanted to try this treatment ever…

Attend a Montreal Impact soccer game (Canada)

In Canada and the United States, the most popular sports are basketball, ice hockey, baseball and American soccer. Founded in 1993, Major League Soccer (MLS) is a 24-team (21 USA and 3 from Canada) soccer team (or soccer as they say here). MLS is developing little by little and is beginning to welcome some of the big names in soccer, usually at the end of their careers. David Beckham in Las Vegas and Thierry Henry in New York were among the pioneers. I have the opportunity to discover all this in Montreal, whose local franchise is called the Montreal Impact. I was able to easily buy my ticket on the…

    1 day in Toronto (Canada)

We actually spent a week in Toronto, but after a 15-day vacation in Iceland, we worked hard, went to Niagara Falls and had to wait a long time for the sun to come back. So it’s with all our layers of winter clothes – that we go out in the street – because it’s sunny, yes, but it’s still super cold. We start first with the High Park near our house, hoping to see the cherry trees in bloom. But there was absolutely NOTHING. The winter was particularly long this year, and we are in Toronto 2 weeks before flowering. A pity. Field hockey Hall of Fame We take the…
