[Bloggers’ Life] – Thoughts during Covid, Part 3

This article is unstructured, it will go in all directions, but I would just like to take a moment to write you and reveal, once again, the behind-the-scenes of the blog. I think it’s interesting and especially useful for me to track the progress of the blog, which is now part of my daily life I work in digital marketing and more precisely Google Adwords. I have a big client and several small clients since we are digital nomads. The contract with my big client was supposed to end at the end of March 2020 and we were supposed to be in Vietnam at the end of February. The blog…

4 weeks Road Trip in France – Itinerary by Car, Budget & Addresses

That’s it, it’s decided! We leave for a road trip in France in August. It’s a real Tour de France, but by car.We are still waiting for the information concerning the authorization to move in France (green zone, red zone etc.) here is our itinerary : To create this itinerary, I was inspired by the best points of interest in France, which you will find here Car Rental We rented a car for a month at Leclerc near Rouen because they offer the best rates (more info here). However, as the deductible is very high, it is absolutely necessary to have a credit card with a minimum of 1200€. We did…

My Mixed Opinion on THINX after 1 year: Menstrual panties / menstrual panties

I took advantage of our trip to the United States to order a lot of things available in the US but not yet distributed in France, including THINX, the “revolutionary” menstrual panties. This is a good idea, especially for women travelers, because in many countries you can *NOT* find tampons or thin, absorbent sanitary pads like in France. I think a lot of us are targeted by this brand’s ads, whether it’s on Facebook or Instagram. What I really liked in their ads was the use of *no Photoshoped* photos, and especially their concept, of course. I will explain in this long article: the concept who it’s for how to…

Digital Nomad: Results after 2.5 months in Rouen

We spent two and a half months in Rouen where we went as soon as the deconfinement was over and it was a good decision. Our Airbnb Where do we start? A tour of the apartment? Yes, that’s my favorite part too! As you can see, this apartment (former artist’s studio) is just amazing. It’s the kind of overpriced place we couldn’t have afforded outside Covid (this time we paid 3024€ for 77 nights, or 39€/night – to find out the price and get the link to all our Airbnb, click here). This is typically the style of apartments I will observe, jealous, as a tourist, thinking “the owners of…

My Favourite Addresses in Rouen: Spas, Restaurants, Small Businesses

After 2.5 months in Rouen, we appreciate this city more or less. It is only 1h15 by train from Paris, people are 10 times nicer, everything is 5-10 minutes walk away… there are many small shops, conscientious specialized doctors (with easy appointment). Here are my favorite addresses (completed also by the owner of my Airbnb in Rouen). Rituals from Elsewhere Address: 17 Rue des Arsins, 76000 RouenGoogle MapsWebsite: http: //www.rituelsdailleurs.fr/ I should have tried other spas in Rouen, but I like this spa so much that I frankly didn’t feel like going anywhere else. They use the whole range of the “Charme d’Orient” brand, based on argan oil. Their oil…

Apple Sidecar: your iPad as a second screen on your Macbook

Being nomadic means having to limit your computer equipment. No more big external screen associated with the Macbook! As a result, I was super happy when Apple announced the release of Sidecar with the Catalina macOS update in October 2019. Sidecar is a feature that allows you touse an iPad as a secondary screen of a Macbook. It’s very simple and it works: Either wireless through the Wifi network Either with a cable lightning (Amazon link) When I tested this feature at the time of its release, it was unfortunately not a great success. I was in Central America with low performance Wifi connections, so there was a latency time…

    IP Tracking: myth or reality?

In the category “tips and tricks” to get cheap airline tickets, I already talked about round trips cheaper than one-way tickets. I also mentioned the trick of paying in the currency of the country of departure. Another trick that is very regularly mentioned by groups of travelers is IP Tracking. IP Tracking is the belief that the airline increases the price of your ticket after your first search to create a sense of urgency and to encourage you to book your ticket as soon as possible. The airlines would use your IP address, which is your identifier on the Internet. Based on this belief, some will recommend you to use…

Subscribe to Free Mobile on an interactive kiosk

I’ve already mentioned that Free Mobile is an excellent subscription for travelers because it is possible to switch from the €2 to the €20 plan and vice versa whenever you want. The €2 plan is minimalist and mainly allows you to keep your phone number and receive SMS messages anywhere in the world. The €20 package allows you to use 25 GB of internet in about 60 countries. This is particularly interesting in countries like Canada, the United States or Australia where mobile Internet is very expensive. For nomads like us who no longer have a fixed address, Free also offers to subscribe directly via interactive terminals. In 10 minutes,…

Pass SFR La Carte: Prepaid SIM card for France

Although we have a Free Mobile subscription at €2, it isn’t necessarily interesting to switch it back to the €20 plan (you have to keep it for at least 3 months and there is a €10 fee to switch back to the €2 plan) when we travel in France. I discovered Lebara which seems to me to be the best value for money in prepaid SIM card. While passing by the Saint Lazare train station, I saw ads for an alternative: the prepaid SIM card “Pass SFR La Carte”. The principle of the SFR Pass The Card The principle of the Pass SFR La Carte is very simple: instead of…
