Kapten: Review and promo code (20 € valid in March 2020) of the VTC application

Uber, Grab, Taxify, Kapten, Heetch, … the services of VTC are so similar that I am a customer of several of them and I choose one or the other according to the price and the waiting time announced for my race.

It was in Lisbon that I first heard about Kapten when I saw them doing street marketing campaigns. Kapten is in fact the new name of the French Private Chauffeur service which is going international.

Wishing to make their new brand known, I have the impression that Kapten’s rates are for the moment a little more interesting than those of their competitors, let’s take advantage of it!

Kapten is currently available in Paris, Lyon, Lisbon and Geneva and should be present in about fifteen cities by 2020.

If Private Chauffeur had previously a high-end positioning (higher rates, sedans, driver in suit and tie, …) it is no longer the case of Kapten who wants to position itself in the same niche as Uber.

Concretely, the service is really similar, the application geolocates us, we choose our destination and the rate and waiting time are indicated.

You can choose three types of vehicles:

• Standard
• Sedan
• Van (6 to 7 seats)

Interesting feature: it is possible to book a trip up to one month in advance. Appreciable for example if you have to leave early for the airport and want to be sure to have a driver.

The payment is made by credit card, which must be added on the application as usual.

Another specificity of Kapten: a loyalty program is proposed. At each race, you accumulate points which can be transformed into a free race. If you use a VTC very regularly, it can be an interesting advantage compared to Uber.

Last but not least, Kapten pays his taxes in France, we can’t say that everybody does the same and it’s an argument to use their services rather than an American competitor 😉

So far I’ve done about ten races with Kapten and everything went well, I had no bad surprises 🙂
