Test & Review of the Digidom direct debit service

After discovering this article, Digidom kindly proposes to the readers of this article a 20% discount code on their services. You must contact them by e-mail (support AT digidom POINT pro) indicating that you come from the blog “around the world 5 continents”.

For several years, I used the services of ABC Liv for the domiciliation of my company.

In addition to the simple direct debit service, ABC Liv received and forwarded my mail.

I was satisfied with the service but I was a little annoyed by their policy of automatically increasing the rate every year. The rate that was very competitive when the contract was signed was becoming less and less competitive over the years.

That’s when a friend told me about a competing service he was happy with: Digidom.

I let myself be tempted and transferred my headquarters to Digidom.

What is Digidom?

Digidom is a company that offers a domiciliation service.

They have premises in the very chic 8th district of Paris, a few steps from the Elysée Palace. The address of these premises thus officially becomes the address of your company.

The main interest is to separate your home and your professional activity

Digidom will receive all your mail and, according to the offers, will scan it and forward it to you. If you have made a power of attorney, they can retrieve your registered mail as well.

Digidom also offers a whole range of legal services such as business creation. For example, they managed the transfer of my headquarters from ABC Liv to Digidom. I had nothing to do, except to sign a few papers and pay the sum of 510 € HT (knowing that 330 € corresponds to the expenses of registry office and legal announcements).

What are Digidom’s rates?

Digidom offers 3 price ranges:

  • Offer at 19 € HT / month : You are domiciled at Digidom which receives your mail, you have to pick it up on the spot (a mail forwarding “on demand” is possible)
  • Offer at 35 € HT / month: In addition to the above offer, Digidom digitizes the envelopes you receive and redirects your mail (the cost of stamps is included)
  • Offer at 65 € HT / month: In addition to the above offer, Digidom opens your mail and digitizes it to make it available online.

This is the last option I chose.

Digidom allows you to retrieve both your professional and personal mail.

Note that I went to pick up my mail once in their premises and I appreciated the seriousness from a security / confidentiality viewpoint. They asked me to present an ID and to sign a document proving the withdrawal. At ABC Liv, I had collected my mail with only the name of my company. A malicious person could have retrieved my mail without any problem.

How to consult your mail?

If you have subscribed to the offer including scanning, you will receive an email as soon as new mail has been received.

You can then consult it, either through their application or their website.

The mobile application (Android / iOS) seems quite buggy, I gave up using it because it was wasting more time than anything else.

The web interface is very simple.

However, it lacks ergonomics, instead of simply displaying the mail when we click on it, it displays a year / month tree that forces us to make several clicks and lose time before finding the mail we are looking for. Not very optimal.

Here are some improvements I would find top :

  • Instead of sending me an email telling me that I have received a letter, I would love to receive an email with… the letter attached.
  • On the interface, I’d like to be told which mail is read/unread. Like on a mailbox.
  • Digidom uses Dropbox to host the mail, it would be great to be able to share them automatically with my own Dropbox account.
  • The tree structure mentioned above doesn’t really seem logical to me.

EDIT: The interface has since evolved in the right direction.

Another source of frustration is that I regularly receive this type of mail.

There’s not much more frustrating than receiving a letter, being about to post it and… not having any idea what it’s about.

EDIT: Now the envelope is scanned, which solves the problem.

In this case, it was a bank card. I completely understand that it isn’t digitized. For my personal mail, I use the services of Courrier Du Voyageur. In a similar case, they take a picture of the mail to see the format and address of the sender. In most cases, this makes it possible to know exactly what it is about.

A few misfires on reshipment

Digidom offers an interface to define the mail forwarding frequency, stop it if desired and change the forwarding address if needed.

My case is very particular since I am very rarely in France.

I took advantage of a visit from a relative to temporarily have my mail forwarded to his home so that he could bring it to me. After his visit, I changed the forwarding address. This request was not taken into account and the relative in question continued to receive my mail…

After contacting the support, they advised me to notify them of any changes. It’s a pity to have a nice interface like this one that doesn’t work (or not well).

Some suggestions of services to offer

I find some of the services offered by Courrier Du Voyageur (which, as its name suggests, is designed for travelers) very convenient and I would love to see Digidom offer them (even if it means charging extra for them).

As an example :

  • Mail storage
  • Destruction of selected mail
  • Partial forwarding (send only selected mail)
  • The shipping of a specific courier anywhere in the world via DHL or UPS.
  • The management of the cashing of checks

Conclusion

Apart from the few missed opportunities and my proposals for additional services, Digidom is an excellent service.

The support is very reactive by e-mail and they can be contacted by phone if necessary. The rates are competitive and I was promised that it wouldn’t increase systematically every year like those of ABC Liv 🙂

The legal procedure for the transfer of the head office was also very efficient.

I therefore recommend them without hesitation 🙂
