Sidereal Astrology: How to Get Your Birth Chart with the Time Nomad App
Today, I’m going to show you how to get your birth chart according to sidereal astrology (i.e., the one where constellations correspond to their exact positions, unlike tropical astrology).
To do this, download the app Time Nomad available on iOS (link), it’s free but only available in English. It’s an app I found on my own, I’m not sponsored.
Note: since I don’t have an Android smartphone, I don’t know which app can give you a sidereal birth chart on Android, sorry
After downloading it, click on the menu on the left, then (+) to add a person (add person)
Enter the birthplace, birth date, and birth time correctly. If any of this information is wrong, the entire birth chart will be wrong. The advantage is that the app will automatically figure out if it’s daylight saving time or standard time. Then click on SAVE
Then, to access sidereal astrology, go back to the menu, click on the gear icon, then “app settings”
Here are the important settings: Houses, choose Whole Sign, Sidereal, and for the Zodiac, choose Sidereal. Click on SAVE
Now open the menu on the right and scroll down, you can see the
- Natal Chart, which is the birth chart
- Natal Chart details, which will give you all the details (position of each planet, in which house)
- Natal Aspects list (the aspects, relationships between planets)

By choosing NATAL DETAILS, you can see the ZODIAC tab (which tells you which planet is in which sign)…
AND the HOUSES tab which tells you which planet is in which house. And which sign is in which house.
You will notice that with sidereal astrology, your Sun is probably shifted by one sign compared to the sign given in magazines (e.g., Aries: March 21 – April 20). That system (tropical) is offset from the real sky because it doesn’t take into account the precession of the equinoxes.
Sidereal astrology takes the precession of the equinoxes into account; it’s a true picture of the sky, so March 21 currently falls in Pisces according to sidereal astrology, but in a few hundred years, it will be in Aquarius and so on.
Aspects are for intermediate levels; you have the list by clicking on NATAL ASPECTS.
