My Take on the “Suite Night Upgrade” Perk at Accor Hotels

When you reach Platinum status at Accor, you get two “Suite Night Upgrades.” Then you get an extra one for every 4,000 status points (up to 12 per year).

This perk can be used at Accor’s premium and luxury brands: Sofitel, Mgallery, Pullman, Raffles, … and consists of a guaranteed suite upgrade.

All you have to do is click “Use my Suite Night Upgrades” when searching on the All Accor website.

For example, at the Sofitel Legend Metropole in Hanoi, Vietnam, I can book the Prestige Suite at 472 € instead of 919 €.

Interesting, but not all that much.

If I search without requesting to use a Suite Night Upgrade, I find that 472 € is the price for the Grand Premium Room, the category just below.

Yet, an upgrade to the next category is already included with Platinum status (and even Gold!), subject to availability.

If the suites aren’t all taken (which can obviously happen), I’m supposed to get one at the same rate without using my “Suite Night Upgrade.”

Doing the same search for the Sofitel Le Scribe in Paris, I get the Prestige Duplex suite at 636 €.

That rate matches the Luxury Premium room, two categories below the Prestige Suite. In this case, using a Suite Night Upgrade makes sense.

In conclusion, while this perk is great, be careful to use it when it actually gets you a real upgrade of at least two categories. And not just a one-category jump that’s supposed to be granted automatically when available.
