My selection of protective covers for reMarkable 2: from €26
I almost didn’t buy the reMarkable 2 tablet because of the exorbitant price of its protective covers. Luckily, after some quick research, I found cheaper and better-made solutions.
Should you buy a protective cover?
Yes, at least to protect it from dust. It’s essential if you have kids or plan to take it everywhere with you.
Vovipo Case for Everyday Use
This is the case that looks most like the official one, but better. It protects the edges while still having the 4 holes for the 4 feet of the reMarkable 2. I think it’s really well designed. You can also fold the case. It’s the closest option to what reMarkable offers. Plus, it protects the edges, so in case of a drop, there’ll be less damage. It’s 8mm thick (vs. 4.7mm for the tablet), so it doesn’t affect the writing experience.
Some people wonder what designers were thinking when they put the stylus holder on the back (i.e., behind the tablet). At first, I asked myself the same question, but actually, it’s simple. The back of the tablet is protected by a thicker plastic layer than the front. Putting the stylus on the front would have caused more pressure on the screen when moving or making contact, potentially cracking it. So even though it’s less convenient, this design protects the tablet much better.

Tomtoc Case for Travel
This case must be used with a cover. Otherwise, the reMarkable 2 might float inside. This case offers extra protection for those who travel a lot. I fly very often and my bag is always full of gadgets, so having a rugged case like this prevents me from bending or breaking my reMarkable 2. It’s water-repellent, shock-resistant, etc. It even has slots for the nibs, cable, stylus, and room for a Kindle and a paper notebook (lol).

Cover Mimicking the Official Version
If you want the equivalent of the official cover without paying full price, you can find the same thing for €45on Amazon. It’s not the option I recommend since we saw that this type of cover doesn’t protect the edges, but it has the advantage of letting you take the tablet in and out easily. It’s for those who really need the 4.7mm thickness of the tablet and not a millimeter more. Be careful: the magnets are strong but not strong enough to toss the tablet anywhere; it could detach from the cover. If you have kids, this is clearly not the ideal cover!
Faux Velvet Cover
This cover (€34, Amazon link) is also very popular among users because it’s ultra-thin and has a slot for the stylus. For those afraid of losing it at the bottom of their bag, this could be a good option. However, you’ll have to stick the reMarkable to the cover with double-sided tape. And the cover doesn’t protect the edges unlike the first cover presented here.
Handmade Leather Covers
For those who prefer traditional leather covers, there are artisans (Greek and Ukrainian) who make custom covers for the reMarkable 2 in genuine leather (Etsy link, €140). The tablet is attached to the leather with a Velcro system that you stick onto the reMarkable.
There are other leather models where the reMarkable is simply placed on leather and then stored by sliding it under a strap (Etsy link, €80). Since it’s handmade, you can ask for a model specifically for left-handers or add a custom engraving option. These covers all have a slot for the stylus and nibs. Great craftsmanship. Remember it’s handmade, so customization is limitless.

Lucrin from Geneva offers customizable leather covers. Perfect for those who want no extra thickness for their reMarkable 2. There’s a small slot for the stylus, but nothing for other accessories. The cover costs €140 (link)
