How to replace a shower door seal?
If there’s one thing I regret, it’s taking months to replace a shower door seal. I thought I’d need to call a plumber, but it’s much easier than I expected—I managed to do it myself. For this, you’ll need:
- a ruler to measure the thickness of your shower door glass
- the corresponding seals, personally I got these: Amazon link
- a small saw to cut the seals (a utility knife can’t cut them properly) Amazon link
- pliers to remove the seals (Amazon link) but if the seals are in bad shape, you can easily remove them by hand
Then, follow the steps in this video:
- measure the thickness of your glass and buy the matching seals
- remove the old seals
- cut the new seals to the exact size of the old ones
- slide the new seals under the glass by hand, and that’s it
All in all, it took me 10 minutes. I should’ve done it sooner. You don’t need any glue—if you’ve measured the thickness of your glass correctly, the seal will just snap onto the glass like magic.
