[Transport] Bus San Salvador – Concepcion de Ataco: Fares & Bus Terminals
There are two ways to get from San Salvador to Concepcion de Ataco. Both routes require a change of bus. 1st method: San Salvador – Sonsonate – Concepcion de Ataco This method is longer but the advantage is that the changeover to Sonsonate is done in the same bus terminal. From Terminal Occidente in San Salvador, take a bus to Sonsonate (the route in question is called Ruta 205). There are several types of buses. Choose the servicio especial buses ($1.30) that have a luggage compartment. These buses leave on time. Hours: every 20 minutes, between 5:20 am and 7:20 pmDuration:1h30Rates:$1.30 From the same terminal, take a bus that looks…

International Bus: from Leon (Nicaragua) to San Salvador (El Salvador): Timetable, Fares
If there are many shuttles proposed by the hostels going from Leon (Nicaragua) to the different beaches in El Salvador, we had a lot of trouble finding buses connecting Leon and San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. There are two companies providing this service: Platinum Tica Bus You will not necessarily see this information on the two respective sites because the buses all leave from Managua and Leon is just a stop on the way. Here are the departure times and fares for November 2019: Platinum : departure around 3am. Arrival around 2pm-3pm. Rates : 50$US Tica Bus: departure around 11am. Arrival around 11 pm. Practical Travel Guide 2020: Transportation in Nicaragua (Chicken bus, Microbus, Shuttles, …)
Nicaragua is a country where the majority of its inhabitants travel by local transport. They are very cheap and allow you to reach the whole country without difficulty. There are also private transportation such as cabs, private shuttles or international bus companies. The latter are more expensive but can save you a lot of time. Let’s go for a little practical guide! Local transportation tips and tricks In the majority of the buses, you will find a driver and a “cobrador”. It is the latter who is on the side of the road, shouting out the cities where the bus stops, telling the driver when to stop and asking you…

Being Digital Nomad in Nicaragua (Managua, Granada, Leon): Reviews & Speedtests
If you have followed us on the blog, you can see that this year we have chosen the two “dangerous” (in the collective imagination) of Central America to spend the fall: Nicaragua and El Salvador. These two countries are often avoided by tourists crisscrossing Central America (who visit Guatemala and then hop, hop, hop, go directly to Costa Rica). I admit (and I wish to be honest with you), the idea of going there scared me too. I already imagined blocked roads, stray bullets, civil war. Without the very reassuring advice and feedback from Lauriane, an expat who has been living in Central America for 2 years, I wouldn’t even…

Prepaid 4G SIM card in Burma: How much does it cost? Where to buy it? What speed? Speedtest (2020)
During our world tour in 2016, we fell in love with Burma. At that time we were not writing articles about SIM cards or taking speed readings but we noticed that it would be complicated to come to Burma as a digital nomad because of the slow internet speed. Thanks to my former colleague Maxime, who also became a globe trotter, we have fresh information and the situation has changed. So we’ll probably go back to Burma in 2020 🙂 How much does a SIM card cost in Burma? It is possible to buy a SIM card directly at the airport and the prices are particularly interesting. There are several…

What about Security in Nicaragua in 2020? Dangerous country for tourists ?
Before setting foot in Central America, we asked ourselves this question and asked questions to the French expats living there. In Nicaragua, we were able to contact Lauriane, who is currently there, and who told us that the country was totally safe for tourists (safer even than Costa Rica). The demonstrations and roadblocks observed in 2018 no longer exist. Even on the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the whole country is in yellow, no zone is in orange or red, which is a very good sign. This is just the time to take advantage of it and have all the tourist sites for you alone. Moreover, Nicaragua is…
