What is Priority Pass?

Priority Pass is a program offering the widest access to airport lounges.

Priority Pass provides access to 1,300 lounges in 600 cities in 148 countries. In concrete terms, if you are in an international airport, you are sure to have access to at least one airport lounge and often several.

In addition to these accesses, Priority Pass allows you to benefit from :

• Discounts in restaurants, stores, spas, … in airports
• Buy “Priority Lane” lane cutters to avoid queuing at security and passport controls (available in very few airports at the moment).

What is an airport lounge?

The airport lounges are “VIP areas” allowing you to wait for a flight in optimal conditions.

You benefit systematically free of charge :

• Comfortable armchairs
• Fast and unlimited Wifi access
• Beverages (soft and alcoholic)
• A buffet to eat
• Of toilets

Depending on the trade fairs, it is also possible to benefit (for an additional fee) :

• From a bed
• A shower
• Hairdressing salon
• Massage parlour
• Printers / photocopiers
• Play area for children
• …

These lounges are particularly valuable, especially if you have a long wait during a transit for example.

How much does the Priority Pass card cost?

Priority Pass offers 3 formulas:

• Standard : 89 € / year + 28 € per lounge access
• Standard Plus : 259 € / year including 10 accesses then 28 € per access.
• Prestige : 399 € / year for unlimited access.

If we make assumptions about the price per access based on the formula and the number of accesses per year, that’s what we get.

Objectively, I find that above 15 / 20 € per access it’s expensive compared to the service you get.

The only formula that seems really interesting to me is the Prestige formula, as long as you plan to enjoy a salon at least 20 times a year.

Below 20 accesses in a year, I think you’ll be better off buying an access directly at the show counter when you know you have several hours to wait.

You can also benefit from a Priority Pass Prestige offered with certain bank cards. For example, this is the case with the American Express Business Platinum card.

How does it work?

Very simple operation. When you arrive at an airport, open the Priority Pass application (see below) to see the available lounges.

In large airports, the lounge(s) is (are) located at the boarding gates after security checks. In smaller airports, it is possible that the lounge may be located before, so please inquire beforehand

Present yourself at the show counter and show your Priority Pass. In the vast majority of cases the digital card (on the application) is necessary but in rare lounges, the physical card is mandatory, remember to carry it with you.

In addition to your card, you must present a boarding pass proving that you have a flight on the day of your visit to the lounge.

You must then sign a record of your visit

In some lounges you will be given a voucher for alcoholic drinks (which are sometimes limited to 2 or 3, unlike softs).

Access is sometimes limited to a maximum presence of 3 or 4 hours but I think it’s very theoretical. As I don’t have a “time clock” recording the departures anyway, I don’t see how it can be applied.

Please note that if you have the Priority Pass Prestige formula, you can test all the lounges if there are several accessible in the terminal where you are.

The Priority Pass application

The Priority Pass application is to be installed absolutely, it will allow you :

• To dematerialize the Priority Pass card
• See the different lounges available in an airport and identify the one closest to your boarding gate
• To view the opening hours of the show and the facilities available
• To identify the promotions you can benefit from

At Bogota airport for example, the Priority Pass allows access to 5 different lounges.

Each lounge is detailed and you can see pictures of the location, opening hours, facilities and how to get there.
