Visiting the Sainte-Chapelle and the Little Prince shop in Paris (France)

Today, I’m sharing with you my photos of the Sainte-Chapelle, which we visited last year. There’s always a crowd in front of the Sainte-Chapelle, so I highly recommend booking your tickets in advance and coming with an ultra-light bag, as bags will be scanned and searched at the entrance. Then, you enter a kind of administrative courtyard, and you need to follow the arrows to know where to go.

The ground floor is quite beautiful but dark, and the most impressive part is upstairs. There’s a small staircase leading up, don’t miss it!

Nestled in the heart of the Île de la Cité, the Sainte-Chapelle is a treasure from the medieval era, built in the mid-13th century under the reign of Louis IX, future Saint Louis. This place was constructed in record time— less than seven years—specifically to house the precious relics of the Passion of Christ, including the Crown of Thorns and a fragment of the True Cross. Although the Sainte-Chapelle has lost its function as a reliquary since the Revolution, it remains today one of the most dazzling gems of Gothic art. Get ready to be amazed by its 15 stained glass windows of impressive height—15 meters in the nave and 13 meters in the choir! Composed of 1,113 scenes of color, these stained glass windows tell the story of the world according to the Bible, from Creation to the arrival of the precious relics in Paris, culminating with the depiction of the Apocalypse in the splendid rose window.

Don’t miss the video explaining the cleaning and restoration of the stained glass windows. The stained glass windows are now protected by a layer of resin to preserve them better and facilitate future cleanings.

Right next door are the Palais de Justice de Paris with its beautiful doors.

We head to the Little Prince shop, which only has goodies, books, and merchandise from the Little Prince. It’s small but super cute, and they have products that don’t exist elsewhere.
