Review of my (free!) lunch at Mallory Gabsi’s in Paris

With our card With American Express Platinum, we get a great perk every year: a €400 reimbursement for restaurant expenses at a selection of fine dining establishments.

It’s even a perk you can enjoy twice, as this €400 is split into €200 in France and €200 abroad.

While in Paris, we took advantage of this offer to have lunch at Mallory Gabsi’s, on Rue des Acacias in the 17th arrondissement.

I didn’t know, but Mallory Gabsi is a Belgian chef who became known for reaching the semi-finals of the TV show Top Chef in 2020.

Anh, who was supposed to join me, wasn’t feeling well that morning. It was too late to cancel, so I went alone.

I treated myself to the Leon set menu at €190, which includes the Turquoise menu in 7 courses (not counting the amuse-bouches!) and the sommelier’s pairings (with a surprise: a beer, a nod to Belgium).

I had a great view of the kitchen, almost like a TV screen!

I don’t need to tell you I had a feast!

Final amount:

  • Turquoise menu: €115
  • Sommelier’s pairings: €75
  • Bottle of water: €9
  • TOTAL: €199

I couldn’t have optimized the Amex offer better, as they reimburse up to… €200! So this lunch didn’t cost me a single euro, which makes it even better 🙂

This is the first time we’ve used this American Express perk, and I can’t wait to use it again. It’ll probably be in Italy!
