Scooter rental in Koh Samui
Disclaimer : While renting a scooter in Thailand is very easy, it remains illegal if you don’t have a motorcycle license. You’re not only risking potential fines but also the non-coverage of your insurance in case of an accident. I talk about it in this article.
Tonton Samui
When we spend a few days in Koh Samui, we use Anthony, who was recommended to us by French friends. He operates under the name “Tonton Samui”.

The scooters are new (it’s the first time I had a scooter with a keyless ignition) and in impeccable condition.
Another big advantage of going through Tonton Samui is that Anthony doesn’t require a deposit, neither in cash nor by leaving your passport (“we trust each other among French people”). Knowing that deposits are often a way to retaliate by charging for imaginary damage fees, it’s very pleasant to be able to avoid that.
For a 155cc scooter, we pay 250 THB per day. Better prices are offered if you rent by the month.

As our stay in Thailand was coming to an end, we met a French couple who were settling in Koh Samui and opening a scooter rental shop.
We haven’t had the chance to use them yet, but we trust them completely, and their Google reviews are excellent.
