Scooter rental on Koh Phangan with Phangan Wheels
Disclaimer : While renting a scooter in Thailand is very easy, it remains illegal if you don’t have a motorcycle license. You’re not only risking potential fines but also the non-coverage of your insurance in case of an accident. I talk about it in this article.
There are plenty of scooter rental shops on Koh Phangan. We didn’t do a very thorough market study and picked one of the best-rated on Google Maps: Phangan Wheels.
Phangan Wheels is run by a Russian guy you can contact in English on WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, etc., and he’s very responsive to messages.
This scooter rental agency isn’t suited for very short stays as they require a minimum rental period of 5 days.
For the first month, we rented a 125cc scooter for 2000 THB for 30 days.
Since there are some pretty steep hills, we found it more comfortable to rent a 155cc in the following months for 3000 THB per 30 days.
Phangan Wheels can deliver the scooter to your preferred location, except in certain areas (Haadrin for example).
The agency requires a deposit:
- Either a passport
- Or a cash deposit (300 USD for a 125, 500 USD for a 155) in the currency of your choice
The scooters are in very good condition. We had the chance to rent scooters for a few days from locally-owned agencies, and the brake wear wasn’t the same :D. Helmets are included with the rental.
Every two weeks, Phangan Wheels comes by to check the scooter’s condition and inflate the tires if needed.
