That’s it, we are owners!
I posted on my Facebook account (private) the photos of our first real estate acquisition. And everyone asked me if we were planning to move to France etc. But no but no, we continue to travel. Our apartment is a rental investment, and will serve as a home sweet home… one day, maybe when we retire. I tell you here how we bought our first apartment while traveling. As we are novices in this field, it is not necessarily advice (there are surely more profitable things to do) but feedback. Our goal was not to maximize returns but to start building our wealth for retirement. Background Did you know that…

Digital Nomad: Indispensable Computer Tools & Accessories
Since we are digital nomads, we have had to add a few more gadgets to our luggage to create a better working environment, even when we are nomads. Despite all this equipment (and cosmetics for Anh), we live with only 41.6kg for two (16kg for Anh and 25.6kg for JB) – an optimizable weight but for our comfort (meaning the number of washes to do per week) we have since bought more clothes than we need 😀 Here is the list of tools / equipment that we consider indispensable as digital nomads. A smartphone (150g) It’s the minimum 😀 Often, I make calls via the Skype app on the phone,…

Our opinion on the Max card of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa: a disaster!
Travelling around the world for the last 2 years, we have been using the international option of the Société Générale to avoid paying foreign exchange fees abroad. Very happy with this option, the annual fee is however a little high compared to the competing services that have developed in the meantime, so we have just created an account on the bank N26 which everyone tells us is very good. Wishing now to have both a card with an international option (from 2 different banks), it was when I was about to sign up to Revolut that I heard about the Max card from Crédit Mutuel on Twitter. Max used to…

Digital Nomad: Results after 1.5 months in Japan (Osaka, Kansai, Tokyo)
That’s it, we just spent 1 month and a half in Japan, 1 month in Osaka and 2 weeks in Tokyo. It’s time to take stock of this incredible experience. This is the very first time we come to Japan. The reason why we have never been there before is that we want our stay to be really special. So, when we were on a permanent contract, 2 weeks seemed too short; and when we were on an 11-month world tour, the budget for a stopover in Japan seemed too big. So coming here as digital nomads is really the best option for us. Japan allows us to make many…

Internet connection speed/rate in several countries of the world
As digital nomads, we have total geographical freedom on one condition: to have a proper internet connection. This is especially true for us who have a business that requires large file downloads and uploads, regular calls or video-conferences with our customers. It isn’t always easy to find reliable information on flows in some countries. So I got into the habit of regularly measuring the performance of our internet connections with the android Speed Test application. Here are the results of the readings. Click on the country you are interested in to get the details.Disclaimer These aren’t “scientific” tests, the connection speed depends on many factors (distance from the wifi terminal / relay antenna, number…

Sending a letter to France from abroad – Test and advice from Service Postal (servicepostal.com)
This post isn’t sponsored Even if most of the procedures can now be done online, there are still cases where you need to send physical mail (signed contracts, sending registered mail, …) For the reception of mail (which is then scanned for me), I have already mentioned the traveler’s mail service To send mail, I used until now the online service of La Poste It works very well but the service has two drawbacks A limitation of 8 pages maximum by mail. We can do double-sided but in some cases it isn’t enough. The ergonomics of the service is null and void. Really! An operation as basic as entering the…

Test and advice from the online accounting firm ECL Direct (+ promo code)
If some are interested in their services and want to receive a quote, click here and use the promo code WATUSSI2019. By sponsoring you, we will get 100 € discount each on ECL direct services. When our company was created 4 years ago, it was a sideline activity in parallel with our salaried activities. It was then out of the question to manage the accounting myself. My logic: it’s going to take me a long time and I’ll end up making mistakes that will cost me more than calling in an expert. So I set out in search of the ideal accountant. In the midst of a “paperless” approach, I…

Internet connection in Luang Prabang (Laos): Travel Guide for digital nomads
We were told about the Internet connection in Laos as “non-existent”, “close to Mbps”. What about it really? 3G/4G is correct I bought a SIM card from Unitel (see my article on how and where to buy it here), the best telephone network in the country (thanks to a partnership with Vietnamese telecom networks). I did a speed test and here are the results: With this speed, I can make conf calls (with pixelized video) without any worries. So, I could work while sharing my 3G with my computer in a dream setting: However, I don’t receive 4G, only 3G.But the Unitel network is really great because even at the…

Reviews and tests of the Apple Wireless Airpods Earphones
I confess, I was completely influenced! A friend of mine posted on Facebook his picture with Airpods, commenting “money can’t buy happiness, but Airpods”. Having been looking at it for a few months, his opinion completely convinced me to buy them Because contrary to JB who tidies up his earphones by rolling them carefully, I rather tend to roll the earphones and the wire into a ball… to take 5 minutes later to untie the wires, hang them on my hair, my pocket In fact, I need wireless, 0 wire, and no headphones (too heavy for my little head). So, despite the weird look of these airpods once worn, I…

The Digital Nomad guide in Hanoi (Vietnam): Renting an apartment, Internet, co-working space, food
I have just noticed that I write more guides for other countries than for my own country, Vietnam… although I’m in the best position to give you some good local tips. My bad my bad! So we start today with THE guide for digital nomads who wish to settle in Hanoi, my native life. In general, Vietnamese people love foreigners. Even the most unpleasant waiters become smiling at the sight of a foreigner, because we are very happy that tourists come to discover our country. Visa Vietnam gives long term visas (1 year renewable) to those who work, or do business with Vietnam. If you work only for clients in…
