Masterclass: The classes I took & detailed reviews

Category Film & TV: Natalie Portman teaches acting (course link): this is the course I took first. I’ve watched a lot of her movies. For me, it’s easier to follow because I know her movies too well to understand right away what she’s referring to when she talks about, for example, a certain accent to imitate or psychology and the rigid side of this or that character. During the first lessons, I found her lectures’ content very basic and more of common sense “you have to read, watch documentaries, understand the psychology of the characters” … from the B-A.BA. What else? Things then become more interesting when she invites her…

Winter Mountain Weekend (Montenegro): Durmitor, Zabljak, Kolasin

After a month and a half in Montenegro, this is the first time we’ve ventured to the north of the country. We struggled with the very dangerous roads near the sea, so we hesitated a lot about going to the mountains, fearing icy roads in bad condition. We have chains in the trunk but no experience using them. We decided to spend only 3 days in the mountains, just to see how it goes, and come back later in March if we like it. We can admire the beautiful view of the sunny beach from our Airbnb in Budva in the morning, then find ourselves with 2 meters of snow…

Digital Nomad: Our 2nd Airbnb in Montenegro (Budva)

After a month in Boka Bay (near Kotor) having to cook for ourselves (since the restaurants, mainly for tourists, close their doors in winter), I lost a few pounds. Granted, I still have some wiggle room, but at this rate, I’ll look like a bag of bones in a few months. JB and I decide to move to Budva, to be closer to local and open restaurants. This Airbnb cost us €940 for 28 nights, that is, €33.6 per night, which is expensive for Montenegro but it’s pure luxury and two to three times cheaper than in high season. For access to the history of all our Airbnbs (with links…

[COVID] List of compelling reasons for traveling outside the EU

While everyone expected a new lockdown, Prime Minister Jean Castex only announced a few new measures. One of these measures has a major impact for travelers: the closure of French borders with countries outside the European Union. Starting this Sunday at midnight, travel between France and outside the European Union is banned, whether entering or leaving France, unless there are “compelling reasons”. Specifically, from now on, if you need to make such a trip, you must have in your possession: A certificate justifying the compelling reason for your trip Supporting documents for your compelling reason This new measure has only been in effect for a few hours, so we’ll have…

Lake Skadar, Podgorica, Ostrog Monastery & Dobra Voda (Montenegro)

Between the storm, the rain, and the travel restrictions, we haven’t visited almost anything since New Year. So when JB sees the sun peeking out, we quickly pack a small bag each and head off on a road trip. Part 1: Travel JournalPart 2: Practical Tips Part 1: Travel Journal Day 1 With travel restrictions between regions lifted as of January 12, we can now enjoy an extended weekend exploring Montenegro instead of going around in circles in Kotor like before. The strict restrictions were a way to contain the spread of the virus during Catholic Christmas, New Year, and then Orthodox Christmas. We can also enjoy hotel saunas and…

Digital Nomad: Our Airbnb in Montenegro (Boka Bay)

For over 3 weeks, we’ve been in this Airbnb with a stunning view over the Bay of Kotor. Let me show you our little one-bedroom apartment in the video below. In the low season, there aren’t that many options after all, and JB picked out 3 Airbnbs that fit our criteria pretty well (all over the country ^^), one of which was 100m² (way too big for two people). Since there’s no heating here and people mostly use reversible air conditioning, we’d rather go with a small apartment to make sure we don’t freeze to death. We have a sliding glass door, and from the living room, we can see…

Test & Review: Differences Between AirPods Pro and AirPods 2

Now that Apple has finally admitted to manufacturing issues with their AirPods Pro and offered replacements, AirPods Pro can finally compete with AirPods 2. As you know, there are different types of AirPods and the packaging is so similar that it’s hard to know which to choose. In fact, since we spend all day on Zoom and Meets, I bought both models: I’ve already compared AirPods 1 (old version) vs. AirPods 2 here. Today, we’re going to compare AirPods Pro with AirPods 2, which are indeed different products, but they’re both wireless earbuds. So I think they deserve to be compared anyway. Now, let’s look at the technical differences: The…

My Current Favorites [December 2020 & January 2021]: Numerology & Astrology

In Vietnam, there are so many mediums that one of the activities among friends, when bored, is to go see a Vietnamese medium/astrologer to hear the year’s predictions, to know when you’ll meet your boyfriend or when you’ll get married. The predictions are always positive and don’t bring any important information. One year out of three is favorable for marriage, one year out of four is under a bad star, so we always leave the medium’s place laughing and instantly forgetting the predictions. For many years, I wasn’t that interested, until the end of December 2020, when I had to choose a date to come to Croatia and Montenegro. Because…

Card Swallowed by an ATM Abroad: What to Do?

In Kotor, Montenegro, I had the misfortune of having my bank card swallowed by an ATM during a cash withdrawal attempt. It was clearly an issue with the machine since my card was swallowed before I could even enter my PIN. The bank branch was closed at the time, but I was able to go back a few days later. The advisor spoke good English, went to the ATM, and came back with two bank cards, including mine! Unfortunately, there is a procedure to follow: she gave me an email address and explained that I needed to ask my bank (Fortuneo) to email them authorizing me to retrieve my card.…
